From the Desk of Fr. Tim…

Younas Gill and Family Arriving Soon!

Our refugee family of 6 adults from Pakistan (via Thailand) will begin to arrive on Wednesday January 26, 2022. We have secured a semi-detached townhouse for them to live in for the coming year. Currently, we are asking our parishioners for specific donations to prepare the house for the family's arrival.

Please read carefully a letter to the parish outlining the process for receiving donations, and consult carefully the separate Refugee Household Needs list. Given health and safety concerns all soft items (mattresses, bedding, clothing) must be new. All other items can be gently used. (of items needed). Should you be able to donate a specific item please send an email to loyolarefugeecomm@gmail.com and wait for a confirmation reply before purchasing the desired item.

Members of our Refugee Committee will be in the parish hall before and after each mass on the weekends of January 15/16 and January 22/23 with a list of outstanding items to be donated, as well as to receive the specific donated items from parishioners as previously communicated through loyolarefugeecomm@gmail.com.
Thank you for your generosity in assisting our Refugee Committee in settling this family who have lived displaced in Thailand for over five years.

St Vincent de Paul Society Thank You!

A heartfelt thank-you for your donations to the Society of St Vincent de Paul over the recent Advent season! Thanks to your enduring support, we were able to present over $20K in gift cards to 107 families (~ 400 members of our community-in-need) just in time for Christmas. Those gift cards in turn allowed families to prepare that special meal, or place that special gift under the tree over the holidays, bringing much-needed cheer and smiles to their loved ones.

Your donations to our ministry through the annual campaign also allowed us to start the year with an additional $31K in funds. Thank you again! This could not have come at a better time, considering the effects of inflation on our most affected neighbours-in-need.

God bless each of you for your ongoing support of the communities that we serve on your behalf. Know that you are making a difference!

Livestream of Sunday 9:00 a.m. Mass

For those not comfortable or able to return to mass quite yet we continue to encourage you to view the livestream of our Sunday 9 a.m. Mass via our new parish website: https://stignatiusloyolami.archtoronto.org

Archdiocesan Survey on Synodality

Pope Francis has launched the Synod on Synodality: a two-year global process of listening to the faithful that will help the Church reflect on how we can do God’s will in the world today. The comments of the faithful will ultimately be discussed at a meeting of the bishops in the Vatican in 2023. You are encouraged to watch a video featuring Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, explaining the synod and inviting all Catholics to participate: https://bit.ly/SynodalityVideo .

Sacrament of Confirmation 2022

We have had to move our January Preparation Meetings online via Zoom this week, and we apologize for the technical difficulties that resulted in the cancellation of our Monday meeting. We hope to resume our in-person preparations next month and will send an email update to all families in early February.
