From the Desk of Fr. Tim…

Update on Fr. Tim’s Surgery

Fr. Tim’s hip replacement surgery went very well, and he is recovering at the rectory with support in place.

Fr. Tim thanks everyone who emailed, sent cards, or called the office for an update. He is especially appreciative of your prayer support and asks that you continue to hold him in prayer as he recovers.

Fr. Tim plans to return to the parish by the June 25/26 weekend!

Clergy Appointments Archdiocese of Toronto

Cardinal Collins has announced that our associate pastor Fr. John Sutka has been appointed as chaplain, St. Stephen Centre, Toronto effective June 29, 2022.

We thank Fr. John for his priestly ministry among us during the last year (as well as his diaconal ministry in 2020 during the early months of the pandemic) and offer him our prayers and support for his new appointment.

The Cardinal has appointed Fr. Alex D’Silva who was ordained on May 14, 2022, as our associate pastor effective June 29, 2022. Watch Fr. Alex’s vocation story video by cutting and  pasting the following YouTube link into your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VadYHxFqkeM .

Cardinal Collins has also announced that Deacon-candidate Rob Sansone, a long-time parishioner, will be ordained to the permanent diaconate on Saturday June 18, 2022, at Saint Michael’s Cathedral Basilica. Rob has also been appointed to our parish and he will be our 2nd Permanent Deacon joining Deacon John Brown on our parish staff.

Please pray for Rob as his ordination day approaches and plan to join us for mass on Sunday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. when he will serve for the first time as a deacon.

Welcome Fr. Alex and Deacon Rob to our parish staff and parish community!

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Bundle-Up Sunday Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who was able to help support the efforts of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul by donating your gently used items this past weekend. The container was almost completely full! We will be having another Bundle Sunday sometime in the fall.

A special thank you to Lester Storey and his team for receiving and packing the donations on behalf of the parish SSVP.

Gardening Committee Thank You!

A sincere word of thanks to the enthusiastic new volunteers who came to take part in the cleanup of the church and rectory including Tomas, Nicholas, Rosanna, Maria, Irmgard, Melisa, Skylar, Cassandra, Peter, David, and Jeanelle. The regular garden members who worked with the volunteers included Mary, Rozanne, and Henry.

The morning was a total success, and all the weeding, top dressing, mulching, pruning, edging, and border tiling was completed. The transformation will reduce the amount of work loads and catchups in the coming season.

Although some plantings were not fully finished due to time constraints, all the volunteers made a commitment to come back for a second Saturday, tentatively end of June, to finish up.

A special thank you to Emma Chow and Jill Buyers who organized and guided the teams at the rectory and at the church.

If you would like to volunteer for the second clean-up day at the end of June (date TBC), please email Caroline Borcsok, cborcsok@archtoronto.org .

ShareLife 2022 - You can be a hero for those in need!

The thousands of people who rely on ShareLife-funded agencies are counting on us to reach our parish goal, so the lifesaving work of these agencies can continue. Our goal this year is $255,000. To date we have achieved $138,488.85.

“Our goal can be met, but only with your help. I invite you to join today's generation of heroes by making a sacrificial gift to ShareLife. As you contemplate the blessings God has entrusted to you, please join me in giving to ShareLife to the best of your ability.” – Cardinal Thomas Collins

As we all continue to recover from the pandemic, please keep these agencies and the clients they lovingly care for, in your prayers. You can donate using a ShareLife envelope, online through our parish website, or at https://sharelife.org/ .

Thank you for supporting ShareLife!

Blessing for Father’s Day 2022

God our Father,
in your wisdom and love you made all things.
Bless these men,
that they may be strengthened as Christian fathers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons, and daughters,
may honour them always with a profound respect.
