From the Pastor's Desk

We would like to inform the community that Father Prince will be away for the month of May as he returns home to visit his family in Kerala, India. We wish him a restful and renewing time with his loved ones. Please keep Father Prince in your prayers for safe travels.

We are pleased to welcome Father Tobias, whom you may have already seen around the parish. Father Tobias is staying at the rectory with us and may celebrate Mass with the community from time to time. He comes to us from Tanzania. If you see him in the parish or out walking around the neighbourhood, please extend a warm greeting to him.

Mother’s Day Message

There are few gifts in this world as quiet and powerful as the love of a mother. It is a love that begins long before we can remember it: carried in her body, whispered in her prayers, poured out in a thousand hidden sacrifices no one ever sees. It is the steady presence that teaches us who we are, often without words. A mother’s love shapes the heart, steadies the soul and, in so many ways, becomes our first glimpse of what God’s love is like.

Some of us were held by that love in obvious and tender ways. Others carry more complicated stories. And yet today, we honour the mystery of motherhood in all its forms: those who gave us life, those who raised us and those who carry the quiet ache of longing to be mothers.

For those whose mothers are still with them, today is a chance to give thanks and to speak a word that perhaps hasn’t been said enough.

And for those whose mothers have gone before them, today can carry a different kind of weight. Their absence is felt in a particular way. But love does not end. It changes, deepens and remains. The bond between a mother and her child is not undone by death; it is held now in the heart of God.

So today, we bring all of this before the Lord with gratitude, tenderness and hope.

Mary, Mother of us all: pray for us!

Special Collection: Pope’s Pastoral Works

Established by the bishops of Canada in 1970, the Pope’s Pastoral Works supports the Holy Father’s charitable outreach to those most in need around the world, especially victims of war, famine, and natural disasters. Through this collection, the faithful of Canada are able to extend their charity on a global scale.

On the weekend of May 16/17, parishioners are invited to make a donation using the designated envelopes (available in the foyer). These contributions are forwarded to the Holy Father to assist with immediate relief efforts in areas affected by crisis. The Pope’s Pastoral Works is a tangible expression of Christ’s love and compassion for those suffering in desperate circumstances. Please consider giving generously.

Help Not Harm: Take Action to Support Bill C-218

You’re invited to visit HelpNotHarmCanada.ca where you can e-mail your Member of Parliament (MP), asking for their support of Bill C-218 (The Right to Recover Act), which would amend the Criminal Code to prevent Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) from being provided when mental illness is the sole underlying condition. Without this change, MAiD will be available for those suffering from mental illness alone beginning in March 2027.

We are called to offer care, hope, and protection — not death — to those who are suffering and most vulnerable. Visit HelpNotHarmCanada.ca or scan the QR code below today, and ask your MP to support Bill C-218.
