From the Desk of Fr. Tim

Advent 2021

I offer the following SUGGESTIONS FOR CELEBRATING ADVENT:

  • † PRAY daily using the Sunday or Weekday Advent Mass Readings
  • † ATTEND SUNDAY AND WEEKDAY MASSES during this season. The  powerful symbolism of the readings and prayers will be a peaceful reprieve  from this stressful time. If you cannot be with us in person please watch a  livestream of the daily mass of your choice, or the Livestream of our  Sunday 9 a.m. mass here at St. Ignatius Loyola via our parish website:
    https://stignatiusloyolami.archtoronto.org .
  • † SUPPORT THOSE IN NEED through the St. Vincent de Paul Society’s  Annual Collection (your donation is used to fund outreach throughout 2022),  or also through your donations of Walmart gift cards to the St.  Vincent de Paul (for Christmas outreach). Special St. Vincent de Paul  envelopes for both the annual collection and Christmas outreach are in the  foyer of the church, and donations may be mailed into the church or  dropped off when the church is open for mass or for private prayer…or you  can now also make both donations on-line through our SSVP link on the  parish website under Outreach Ministries or at  https://Canadahelps.org/en/dn/53987. Please provide name and address when donating more than $20 for purposes of tax receipting.
  • † VISIT the lonely, the sick, those who mourn – either in person or  virtually… or by taking time to talk to them on the telephone during this  challenging time
  • † BE RECONCILED to God and one another through the healing Sacrament  of Reconciliation (Confession) before Christmas. Advent has been called a  “smaller Lent,” and is as important a season as the one leading up to the  Resurrection. We don’t often associate penance with Advent, and yet  there’s a strong current of thought that says it should be part of our  preparation for whatever lies ahead.

Reconciliation is available as follows:

  • Saturdays between 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or anytime by appointment by leaving a telephone message with the parish office
  • Archdiocesan Week of Confessions (see www.archtoronto.org/confession/ for times of confessions for Mississauga parishes).
  • Here at St. Ignatius Loyola:
    Tuesday December 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and
    7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday December 23 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Please note that there are no Confessions on Saturdays December 25, 2021 and January 1, 2022.

CWL Cookbook Sale and Membership Renewal
Our parish CWL is celebrating their 5th Anniversary and to acknowledge this  milestone, the members have compiled a cookbook - Culinary Wonders of the  League. The funds raised from the sale of the cookbook will go towards funding  the various charities they support. The cookbooks will be on sale after all  Masses this coming weekend of December 4/5, and then through the parish office until Christmas. It would make a great Christmas gift for family members and  friends and the cost is $15.00 each. If you are not able to attend Mass and would like to place a cookbook order, please contact Debbie at 905-820-1239.

With year-end just around the corner, the CWL will also be collecting 2022  membership dues after all Masses on December 4/5. The 2022 membership dues are $30.00 and can be paid in cash or via cheque. Members not able to attend  Mass or the General Meeting, may drop off their membership dues at the church  office in a sealed envelope. Please include your full name on the envelope and  clearly indicate “2022 CWL Dues”. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to The Catholic Women’s League of Canada.

New members are always welcome- membership is open to women 16 years and up. For information contact Loy at loy.cauilan@yahoo.ca

Sacrament of Confirmation 2022

Last month we circulated registration materials and information regarding the Sacrament of Confirmation 2022 to the Grade 7 students of St. Clare, St. Mark and All Saints Schools. If you have a Grade 7 student in your family who did not receive this package (perhaps attending another school) please visit our parish website home page under the Sacramental Preparation tab for the registration materials as well as information about our afterschool RCIC program (for students not in our parish schools). Confirmation Registration (for candidate and one parent only) will take place on either Wednesday December 8 or Thursday December 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church foyer with Registration Meeting to follow in the church.

Any older youth or adults wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in May 2022 are asked to contact Fr. John as soon as possible, jsutka@archtoronto.org .

ShareLife Final Results & Thank You!

Thank you to all for your generous support of this year’s ShareLife campaign. We collected $243,600 exceeding our parish goal of $234,600. Special thanks to the parishioner who helped us to reach our goal by matching the last $9,000 of  donations, which in turn will be matched by a donor at the Archdiocesan level!

New Parish Secretary/Receptionist

I am delighted to announce that Olga Calderon will be our new Parish  Secretary/Receptionist and will start working with Carol Dewar in early January  before Carol’s planned retirement later that month. Olga and her husband Jorge  are parishioners, and Olga worked in our parish office as a weekend receptionist  from 2016-2018 before accepting a position as Office Administrator at St. Mary’s Parish in Brampton, ON. Welcome back to our parish team Olga!

2022 Offertory Envelopes/Pre-Authorized Giving

Thank you for your continued support of our parish during these challenging  times, especially through your use of offertory envelopes and/or Pre-Authorized  Giving (PAG). Offertory envelopes for 2022 are now available in the parish hall and have been pre-assigned and sorted alphabetically by last name. Please observe social distancing in picking up your envelopes before or after mass.
Thank you for picking up your offertory envelopes as soon as possible!

If you are not currently registered in the parish and wish to use Offertory envelopes, please fill out the parish registration form on the table in the foyer and return it to the parish office and we will notify you when your new 2022 offertory envelopes are ready for pick up.

I thank those who are currently using the option of Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG) and remind them to pick up a set of 2022 envelopes for the special collection envelopes that are not part of PAG. To register for PAG please complete the forms located in each foyer of the church or the electronic version found here.

Your Financial Support is Appreciated!

Thank you once again for your generosity and support of our parish community and ShareLife as we return to church, either in person, by mail, or through Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG forms available through parish website) or by credit card, or single or monthly donations through the “Donate now” button: www.archtoronto.org or via our parish website: https://stignatiusloyolami.archtoronto.org.
