Please Pray for the Archdiocese of Toronto’s Newest Priests!

On Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m., the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto will ordain five deacons with the Sacrament of Holy Orders, ordaining them as priests of the Archdiocese of Toronto. The Mass of Ordination will take place at St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in downtown Toronto and will also be available online via livestream.

As a faith community, we invite you to pray for all those who continue to serve and, in a special way, our newly ordained priests: Rev. Mr. Marko Bušić, Rev. Mr. Danie Lee, Rev. Mr. Ryan Nigli, Rev. Mr. Szymon Karol Sorbian, and Rev. Mr. Jeremy Zou. https://www.archtoronto.org/en/outreach/news/archdiocesan/five-men-prepare-for-ordination-to-the-priesthood-on-may-11-2024/

Let us also pray for those who are currently in formation to the priesthood at St. Augustine’s Seminary and at the Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary.

We give thanks to God for all those who have answered the call to serve the Church through a vocation to the priesthood, diaconate, or religious life.

World Communications Day, May 12

Today Catholics are invited to reflect upon the media of social communication (films, radio, television, newspapers, audiovisuals) and how these influence our lives. The media can promote values that lead to a more fully human society. The Church’s ministry is twofold. The media can be used to help promote the Gospel. At the same time, as receivers of the materials presented by the media, the faithful have a duty to support and promote worthwhile presentations on media and reject those which promote values contrary to spiritual growth.

Canada Health Day, May 12

Canada Health Day is celebrated in health care facilities and community services across the country. This day reminds us that health and healing are essential aspects of our baptismal vocation. We are called to take responsibility for our person health:  to prevent illness and to seek a healthy lifestyle. Good health concerns the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual health of our communities, respect for God’s creature and the nurturing of the whole earth.

Mother’s Day 2024

Please visit:  https://www.archtoronto.org/en/outreach/news/archdiocesan/archbishop-leos-message-for-mothers-day/ for Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, Message for Mother’s Day 2024.

Happy Mother’s Day!

For those who have mothered us from birth, for those we call “mother”, for those who have taught us to be disciples of Jesus,

for expectant mothers and those whose wombs ache for motherhood, for all who have borne the pain of losing a child,

and for mothers who have passed into the heavens yet are with us always:  may the gentle and strong mothering Spirit of God be their guide and their peace.

For mothers far away from their children, for those in the military and those in other lands, bring them home;

for mothers separated by divorce, pain, or conflict, give them peace.

May they believe in the promise of God and hope in Christ who calls all creation to be united in Him. Amen.
