From the Desk of Fr. Tim...

Updated Provincial Guidelines for Places of Worship beginning March 1st

Thank you for your ongoing patience and co-operation over the past two years in adapting to the Covid-19 reality and the many associated restrictions.

We are pleased to share news that as of Tuesday, March 1, 2022, places of worship will now be able to offer 100% seating capacity with no physical distancing restrictions. Please note that masks will still be required, and hand sanitization before and after each mass will be encouraged.

Special thanks to our Ministers of Hospitality for their assistance in seating parishioners during these many months...they will continue to be on hand to assist you when needed.

While we must always remain masked (except for communion), I am happy to announce that we are also now able to resume congregational singing (effective this coming weekend) and we have placed our hymnals in the pew racks once again!

Parish Office/Church Open Expanded Hours

We are happy to announce that effective March 1st the parish office will remain closed on Mondays and will open back to regular office hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The parish office will also open on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. For now, the office will remain closed on Sunday.

The church will be open weekdays throughout the day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

As always, our parish staff are available at other times via telephone or e-mail to answer any of your inquiries.

I am happy to announce that Millie Ozaeta has joined our parish staff as our weekend secretary/receptionist. She regularly attends the 7:45 a.m. Sunday mass where she is also a Minister of the Eucharist and Hospitality. Millie will work on Saturdays beginning on March 5th and will also assist Olga during the week in the parish office when she is away or on vacation. Welcome Millie!

Do you want to FAST this Lent?... In the words of Pope Francis

Fast from hurting words and say kind words.
Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude.
Fast from anger and be filled with patience.
Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.
Fast from worries and trust in God.
Fast from complaints and contemplate simplicity.
Fast from pressures and be prayerful.
Fast from bitterness and fill your heart with joy.
Fast from selfishness and be compassionate to others.
Fast from grudges and be reconciled.
Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.

Candle Offering Increase

We are happy that the lighting of our three-day votive candles at the statues of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph remains popular on weekends and during the week when the church is open for mass and private prayer.

We have not increased the offering ($3 per candle) in the eight years since we first installed them in our parish church. Unfortunately, we have had to increase our suggested offering to $5 per candle due to yet another price increase in the cost of candles last month. Thank you for your understanding!

2021 Tax Receipts/2022 Offertory Envelopes/Annual Report to the Parish

We thank everyone for their support of the parish in 2021. Once again, this year your tax receipts (for those who have contributed over $50 directly to the parish or via PAG) will be mailed to you from the Archdiocese of Toronto offices before the end of February. Tax receipts for donations made electronically via the website (through the Donate Now button feature) will be receipted separately and will also be mailed to you directly from the Archdiocese before the end of February.

Offertory envelopes for 2022 were delivered to all homes within the parish boundary and most apartments last week by your fellow parishioners. We thank them for volunteering for this task in mid-winter! Those who live outside the parish area will find their envelopes available for pick up from the parish sacristy. Please ask for assistance in locating them.

Finally, we will be delivering our parish 2021 Annual Financial Report at each mass on the weekend of March 26/27, when we hope more of our parishioners will have returned to mass.

Archdiocesan Survey on Synodality

Pope Francis has launched the Synod on Synodality: a two-year global process of listening to the faithful that will help the Church reflect on how we can do God’s will in the world today.
