Parish Evening of Reflection: The Resurrection Stories of the Gospels
Wednesday May 25 at 7:00 pm. in the church (also Livestreamed)

Fr. Thomas Rosica CSB, a scripture scholar, teacher, and long-time friend of our parish community will facilitate our first Parish Evening of Reflection since the pandemic began on Wednesday May 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Although we are not able to hold our traditional dinner as part of the evening, we invite you to join us for Fr. Rosica's presentation which will lead us in a meditative reflection on the Resurrection Stories of the four Gospels. The evening will also include time for personal and group reflection on these important stories of our Catholic faith.

Clergy Appointments in the Archdiocese of Toronto

Cardinal Collins has announced that our associate pastor Fr. John Sutka has been appointed as chaplain, St. Stephen Centre, Toronto effective June 29, 2022.

We thank Fr. John for his priestly ministry among us during the last year (as well as his diaconal ministry in 2020 during the early months of the pandemic) and offer him our prayers and support for his new appointment.

The Cardinal has appointed Fr. Alex D’Silva, newly ordained on May 14, 2022, as our associate pastor effective June 29, 2022. Watch Fr. Alex’s vocation story video by cutting and pasting the following YouTube link into your browser: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VadYHxFqkeM .

Cardinal Collins has also announced that Deacon-candidate Rob Sansone (our parishioner who will be ordained to the permanent diaconate on June 18, 2022) has also been appointed to our parish following his ordination. He will be our 2nd Permanent Deacon, joining Deacon John Brown on our parish staff.

Ontario Election 2022

The Archdiocese of Toronto wants every eligible Ontarian to vote in the provincial election happening on June 2, 2022.

One of the five core directions of the Archdiocese of Toronto's Pastoral Plan (Evangelization of Society) calls on us to be engaged in the public square. Gaudium et Spes, which is a product of the Second Vatican Council, tells us that citizens "should be mindful of the right and also the duty to use their free vote to further the common good."

As a charity, the Archdiocese of Toronto must remain non-partisan and cannot direct the Catholic community to vote for a particular candidate or party. What we can do is educate voters and to ensure they are informed to make a responsible decision on election day. We can also share information on issues from a Catholic perspective.

Gardening Committee Assistance Needed

Thank you to the parish gardening committee who designs, plants, and maintains the church and rectory gardens during the growing season.

On Saturday June 4 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon the gardening team will be replenishing the soil, planting, and improving the gardens. Help is needed!

Highschool students are welcome and can earn their Community Service Hours. All interested parishioners are also invited to assist. Please bring your own gardening gloves, shovel, and wheelbarrow if you have one.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul’s Bundle-UP Sunday, June 4/5

Please help support the efforts of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in our community by donating your gently used items on the weekend of June 4/5.

The container will be in the front parking lot and open before and after all masses. Members of the SVP will be available to receive your donations.

The SVP can accept the following items: all clothing (any condition), all footwear (any condition), bedding (any condition), drapery/towels, toys (new only).

The SVP cannot accept the following items: baby items (cribs, car seats, strollers, or any other baby furniture), construction material (any condition), dishes (any kind), furniture (any kind) and books, videos, and audio cassettes.

Please place your items in boxes or securely tied garbage bags. Thank you for your support!

ShareLife Sunday: June 4/5

Next weekend (June 4/5) is the final ShareLife Sunday of the year. But ShareLife is more than a collection. It’s how we as a community say, “we care.” In solidarity with Catholics throughout the Archdiocese, we provide a witness of God's love by actively supporting those in need locally and the greater world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us so much about the needs of our community and our brothers and sisters. We each have a role to play, be it through financial support, prayer, or both.

Our goal this year is $255,000. To date we have achieved $124,158.85. If you have not done so, please give generously through the collection basket or at https://sharelife.org/ .Thank you for supporting our parish’s ShareLife campaign.
