Thank You for Your Support...

I thank you for your generous support of the recent St. Vincent de Paul Society collections:  $19,966 was collected for use in 2023 in addition to $22,134 donated for Christmas outreach this year!  Donations are still welcome until the end of December. Envelopes are at the doors of the church, or you may donate online through the SSVP link on the parish website on the main page, or at https://Canadahelps.org/en/dn/53987 .

As your pastor I have been touched by your generosity not only for these special collections and appeals throughout the year, but also in your sharing in the financial responsibility of this parish, and so I thank you in advance for your kindness in generously supporting your parish at Christmas.   Please don’t forget to pick up your 2023 envelopes (available in the parish hall).  If you are not currently registered in the parish and wish to use Offertory envelopes, please fill out the parish registration form on the table in the foyer and return it to the parish office and we will notify you when your new 2023 offertory envelopes are ready for pick up.

I thank those who are currently using the option of Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG) here at the parish and remind them to pick up a set of 2023 envelopes for the special collection envelopes are not part of PAG.  To register for PAG please complete the forms located in each foyer of the church or the electronic version found here:  https://stignatiusloyolami.archtoronto.org/siteassets/media/files/forms_pdf/pagbrochure-v1.1.pdf

Confirmation Preparation Programme Begins!

At each mass this weekend, we are praying for our Grade 7 candidates for Confirmation this year as they present their Commitment Forms to the parish community.  Their preparation programme continues with a first Preparation Class in 2023 on either Monday January 9 at

7:00 p.m. OR Tuesday January 10 at 7:00 p.m.  Attendance mandatory for all candidates!

Those Grade 7 students who did not attend the Registration Meeting earlier this month are asked to bring their registration form, baptismal certificate copy and $50 offering to the church office as soon as possible, and to plan on attending a special Registration Make-up Meeting with their parents and sponsor on Wednesday January 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the church.  After this date NO further registrations will be accepted for the 2023 Confirmation class.

Any older youth or adults wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in May 2023 are asked to contact Fr. Alex as soon as possible.

Thank You, Trustee Sharon Hobin and Welcome Trustee Herman Viloria

I wish to thank parishioner Sharon Hobin, who retired this fall after 16 years of service as our local Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Trustee in Wards 2 and 8, including two terms as Chair of the Board.  Thank you, Sharon, for your long and committed service in this important role!

I am happy to announce that parishioner Herman Viloria was elected as Sharon’s successor in the October election and has begun his three-year term of office as Trustee, Wards 2 and 8, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. Herman is a Minister of the Eucharist at the

7:45 a.m. Sunday Mass. Welcome, Herman, and blessings upon you in your new role!

ShareLife – Your Gift will Double in Value!

From now until the end of 2022, all contributions to our parish’s ShareLife campaign will be matched by an anonymous donor up to a total of $1 million.

Covenant House is one of the agencies you support through ShareLife. It’s located in Toronto, but its young clients – largely homeless youth – arrive from throughout the archdiocese.

“Our faith community has always responded heroically to the needs around us, particularly through our enthusiastic support of ShareLife. We can help alleviate the suffering of those whose lives have been upended by the pandemic. Let us say yes to Jesus' call to live the Gospel by providing for those in need.”  – Cardinal Thomas Collins

Our goal this year is $255,000. To date we have collected $201,000. Please give at the parish using a ShareLife envelope, online through our parish website, or at https://sharelife.org/ .

Thank you to all the parishioners who ordered poinsettias and Christmas floral arrangements in support of the Knights of Columbus’ charitable work in the community.

Orders are ready for pick up in the parish hall after all masses this weekend. Your order will have a tag with your name on it. Thank you.
