Liturgical Vestment Update

As many parishioners know, over the past while we have been updating some of our liturgical vestments. I am deeply grateful for the many kind and generous donations we have received, especially from parishioners who have offered vestments in memory of loved ones. We have also recently purchased a new set of vestments for our funeral liturgies, and a parishioner very generously donated our new funeral pall, which is placed over the casket as it enters the church.

I would like to offer a special word of thanks to Turner & Porter Funeral Homes for their extraordinary generosity in donating our new funeral chasuble, the vestment worn by the priest at a Funeral Mass. This chasuble beautifully matches the funeral pall and will be used often in our parish’s ministry of prayer and consolation. We are sincerely grateful for their kindness, professional service and for their ongoing partnership of care with our parish community.

Mass for the Anointing of the Sick

February 11, the Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes, highlights the Church’s healing mission and reminds us that care for the sick and suffering must never be neglected. It also acknowledges the dedicated service of doctors, nurses, health care institutions, and pastoral caregivers who work to restore health to those afflicted by illness. We in particular would like to thank our Pastoral Care Ministry who bring Holy Communion to those at home, at Sunrise, and at Parkland on Glen.

A special Mass for the Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated on Saturday, February 7, at 9:00 a.m. Families are encouraged to invite Roman Catholics whose health is seriously impaired by illness or old age to receive the Anointing during this Mass. Coffee Sunday will follow in the Parish Hall. All are warmly invited to attend!
