From the Pastor's Desk

After three years of faithful service, we bid a fond farewell to our Associate Pastor, Fr Alex, as he prepares to begin a new chapter of priestly ministry at Holy Family Parish in Whitby.

St. Ignatius Loyola Parish has been blessed to be Fr Alex’s first assignment following his ordination, and from the very beginning, he has been a gentle and steady presence among us. With quiet dedication, he has given so much of himself—often behind the scenes—offering his time, his care, and his deep commitment to the people he serves. His grounded nature and generous heart have made him not only a beloved priest but a true pastoral companion on the journey of faith.

Personally, I am especially grateful to Fr Alex for the support he offered during a time of transition in the life of our parish. His presence was a gift—an anchor of continuity and quiet strength as we moved forward together.

We will miss his calm wisdom, his humour, and his unobtrusive way of making things better just by being present. As he takes up his new ministry at Holy Family Parish, we send him with our prayers, our gratitude, and every blessing.

Fr Alex’s last weekend with us will be June 21 and 22. Please come to the parish hall after any of the Masses that weekend to wish him well and to thank him for his ministry among us.

Thank you, Fr Alex. May the Lord who began this good work in you continue to bring it to fulfilment.

CCO Support Appeal - Matthew Tadgell

Matthew Tadgell is a parishioner at our Parish who recently accepted a position as a campus missionary at the University of Winnipeg for Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO). CCO is a Catholic movement focused on university campuses, dedicated to giving university students a chance to encounter Jesus and form them into disciples, one person at a time. Thousands of university students hear about Jesus and the Catholic faith through CCO and have their lives changed every year! CCO missionaries partner with

supporters to fund their ministry activities through donations or other important forms of support. Matthew will be at the Saturday Vigil Mass of June 14th and the Sunday morning masses of June 15th in order to meet and connect with people who want to hear more about the mission and be open to providing support through financial contributions, referrals, word of mouth and of course, prayer!

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Needs Your Help

We support 137 school age children who will be returning to school this September.  They will need school supplies, clothing, etc.  Your donation or  a $25 Walmart gift card would be a “hand up” and really put a smile on a child’s face.

Help us to help them get a fresh start!  Please use the designated envelope and place in the weekend collection basket or in the SSVP donation box, prior to August 1, 2025.  Donations over $20 are eligible for a SSVP tax receipt.

Thank You!

You are the light of hope this ShareLife Sunday

On the third ShareLBulife Sunday of the year, you can extend God's compassion and solidarity to our brothers and sisters. Together with your support, let us illuminate His light in the darkest of places, providing strength to those enduring unimaginable hardships. Because of you, people who feel the weight of the world on their shoulders can experience some relief. Like young mother Sarah, and her 4-week-old baby, who fled a life-threatening situation. She went from being alone, homeless and afraid, to supported, secure and safe through programs at Catholic Family Services of Durham.

Please give at the parish using a ShareLife envelope, online through our parish website, or at sharelife.org/donate.
