PARISH NEWS/EVENTS

ShareLife 2026: Living the Gospel Through Generosity

For many years now, the parish community of St. Ignatius Loyola has been recognized across the Archdiocese for its remarkable generosity in supporting ShareLife. Again and again, our parish is praised for the strength of its participation and the size of its contribution. That reputation exists because of you and because of the kindness and generosity that our parishioners consistently show to those in need.

On behalf of the many people who are helped through ShareLife, thank you for the support you have given in the past. Your generosity truly changes lives.

ShareLife supports more than forty Catholic agencies across the Archdiocese of Toronto. These agencies provide essential services to people who are struggling: families in crisis, newcomers to Canada, people facing poverty, individuals living with mental health challenges, seniors who need support and many others who turn to the Church in their time of need. Through your gifts, the compassionate outreach of the Church becomes real and tangible in the lives of thousands of people each year.

One of the inspiring works supported by ShareLife is St. Augustine’s Seminary, where future priests and deacons are formed for service in our parishes. On the weekend of March 14 and 15, we have the pleasure of welcoming Transitional Deacon Matthew Tulio, a seminarian from St. Augustine’s Seminary who is preparing for ordination to the priesthood this coming May. His presence among us will be a beautiful reminder that ShareLife does not only help meet immediate needs in our communities, but also helps form the shepherds who will serve the Church for generations to come.

The work of ShareLife is the work of the Gospel itself: caring for the vulnerable, strengthening families, welcoming the stranger, and forming those who will serve the Church.

As we begin our parish ShareLife campaign this year, I invite every parishioner to prayerfully consider how you might support this vital mission once again. If you have given faithfully in the past, thank you. And please consider whether you might be able to increase your support this year, if circumstances permit.

The generosity of this parish has made an enormous difference in the lives of many people, and I have no doubt that together we will continue that beautiful tradition.

Thank you for helping St. Ignatius Loyola Parish remain a community known for its faith, its compassion and its extraordinary generosity.

Free Bible Study: The Gospel of Matthew

St. Matthew’s Gospel is considered the most influential and popular book among the early Christian community. St. Matthew clearly makes the case for how the long-awaited hopes of the Jewish people are being fulfilled in Jesus.

  • How the Gospel of Matthew clearly makes Jesus out to be a new and greater Moses, David, Solomon, and Isaac
  • The shocking paradoxes of the Sermon on the Mount and the implications of them for our spiritual life
  • Aspects of Jesus’ infancy, public ministry, and last days in Jerusalem that show him to be the long-awaited fulfillment of what the priests, prophets, and kings of old hoped for

We invite you to this free four-part Bible Study in our Parish Hall, happening from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the following Thursdays: April 9th, April 16th, April 23rd, May 7th

Help Not Harm: Take Action to Support Bill C-218

Write your Member of Parliament Today! Visit HelpNotHarmCanada.ca

help-not-harm

You’re invited to visit HelpNotHarmCanada.ca where you can e-mail your Member of Parliament (MP), asking for their support of Bill C-218 (The Right to Recover Act), which would amend the Criminal Code to prevent Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) from being provided when mental illness is the sole underlying condition. Without this change, MAiD will be available for those suffering from mental illness alone beginning in March 2027.

Chances are you know someone struggling with mental illness — a family member, friend, or colleague. As Catholics and Canadians, we are called to offer care, hope, and protection — not death — to those who are suffering and most vulnerable. Visit HelpNotHarmCanada.ca today and ask your MP to support Bill C-218.
