From the Pastor's Desk
A Word of Gratitude
Many of you will notice that our new outdoor Marian Shrine has now been completed. With the addition of the benches and planters, it has become a peaceful place to pray, reflect and entrust our intentions to Our Blessed Mother.
At the same time, our shrine to Our Mother of Perpetual Help inside the church has drawn so much devotion, giving our parish two beautiful places dedicated to Mary, who always leads us to her Son.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dan Tran, one of our parishioners, whose generosity made both of these projects possible. Dan donated not only his time and expertise, but also all of the materials needed to build these shrines. He refused any payment, offering this work entirely as a gift to our parish.
Dan carried out this labour in loving memory of his son, Luc. It is a beautiful witness to the way love endures and how faith can transform grief into a gift for others. Because of his generosity, countless parishioners and visitors will have a place to offer a prayer, find a moment of peace and grow closer to Christ through the intercession of His Blessed Mother.
On behalf of our entire parish family, thank you, Dan. May Our Lady watch over you and your family, may Luc rest in the peace of Christ, and may everyone who pauses at these shrines encounter the hope and consolation that only God can give.

PARISH NEWS/EVENTS
Thinking About Becoming Catholic?
Maybe as a non-Catholic you married in the Church and put your kids through Catholic school but never became Catholic yourself. Perhaps it’s time to join the family. Or maybe you’ve had questions or concerns about the Catholic Church that were never sufficiently answered for you and that’s the thing holding you back. Bring those questions and let’s see if we can work through them together.
Here at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, we welcome new Catholics into the Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). We meet on Wednesday evenings and it’s always an enlightening experience for those involved.
Consider it. Open your hearts to where the Lord is calling you. If you are interested, please speak to Fr Ed Curtis or Fr Tobias Ndabhatinya.
Special Collection: Canadian Missions
Join us in supporting Canadian Missions this weekend (August 15/16, 2026). Envelopes for Canadian Mission donations are available in the front and back foyers of our Parish. Thank you for your support!

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
A very special thank you for the incredible support of our second ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL initiative!!
Our SSVP supports 116 school age children attending JK through Grade 12, who will have back to school expenses as they return to school in September. Your generosity allowed us to provide a $100 Walmart gift card to each of these children to help them with their needs. In addition, we received a wonderful donation of pens, pencils, and highlighters from BIC! We prepared “Goodie Bags” with a personal supply of these items for each child. Many thanks to BIC for their kindness which delighted the families. Wednesday, August 12th was a fun day, with smiles from children and parents who excitedly asked us to relay to all of you their heartfelt expressions of appreciation. The Society of St.Vincent de Paul is blessed to have your continued support as we work in many ways to help our neighbours in need.
Providing positive support, encouragement, and a helping hand, can have a long-term positive impact.
