Saturday, September 26, 2026 – Mass Invitation

For many years, our parish has celebrated a special Mass with the Anointing of the Sick close to the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes in February. While this has always been a beautiful tradition, February in Canada is not always the friendliest time to ask our elderly, sick and less mobile parishioners to venture out! Snow, ice and unpredictable weather can make what should be a day of prayer and consolation unnecessarily difficult or even unsafe.

For that reason, we are moving our annual celebration this year to Saturday, September 26.

We will celebrate Mass at 9:00 a.m., during which the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be offered to those who are elderly, seriously ill, facing significant surgery or living with an ongoing illness or condition.

September 26 is also the Canadian feast of St. Jean de Brébeuf, St. Isaac Jogues and their Companions, the Canadian Martyrs. Their lives remind us that suffering is never something we need to face alone. Christ remains especially close to us in times of weakness, illness and suffering, giving us strength, courage and hope.

Following Mass, everyone is warmly invited to the parish hall for a time of fellowship and some treats.

If you have a family member, friend or neighbour who would benefit from receiving the Anointing of the Sick, please consider bringing them and joining us. Let’s make this a beautiful parish day of prayer, healing, companionship and hope.

Thinking About Becoming Catholic?

Maybe as a non-Catholic you married in the Church and put your kids through Catholic school but never became Catholic yourself. Perhaps it’s time to join the family. Or maybe you’ve had questions or concerns about the Catholic Church that were never sufficiently answered for you and that’s the thing holding you back. Bring those questions and let’s see if we can work through them together.

Here at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, we welcome new Catholics into the Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). We meet on Wednesday evenings and it’s always an enlightening experience for those involved.

Consider it. Open your hearts to where the Lord is calling you. If you are interested, please speak to Fr Ed Curtis or Fr Tobias Ndabhatinya.

First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion Preparation 2026/2027 – Registration Open!

Registration for our First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion 2026/2027 preparation program is now open! Parents and Guardians of Grade 2 children are invited to visit our website for our preparation schedule and to access our online registration form. Please note that registration will close on Monday September 21. If you have any questions, please contact the office. We look forward to seeing you at our first meeting on Tuesday September 29th OR Wednesday September 30th at 6:30 pm.

12 Noon Choir

Our Adult Noon Choir will be resuming rehearsals on Tuesday, September 1st from 7:30-9:00pm. If you love to sing and are looking for a meaningful way to participate in parish life, please feel free to talk to Ana Maria Nunes after any of the Sunday Noon Masses for more information.

Labour Day: Mass & Office Hours

All are welcome to join us for Mass on Labour Day, Monday, September 7, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Please note that the church will close following Mass. Regular parish and office hours will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Wishing you and your families a safe long weekend!

Calling all young singers ages 12–35!

Have you ever wanted to pray through song but felt too nervous to join a choir? Now is the perfect time to give it a try! Join us for our Youth Choir Welcome Nights on Wednesday, September 9 and 16, beginning at 6:30 PM. No experience is needed! Our conductor, Claudia Ferro, will guide you through some simple vocal techniques to help you discover your voice in a relaxed and encouraging environment.

Afterward, stay for choir practice from 7:00–8:00 PM. It's a fun and welcoming hour where we'll sing together, grow in faith, and build lasting friendships.

The Youth Choir sings each week at the 10:30 AM Mass and rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:00–8:00 PM. It's a wonderful way to share your gifts, deepen your faith, and become part of a supportive community. Volunteer hours are also available!

Fall Bible Study

Last call to sign up for our two inspiring Bible studies as we explore what the Catholic Church teaches about our eternal destiny and Christ's return in glory.

Registration is open in the Parish Office. The deadline to register is Sunday, August 30, to allow time for ordering the study materials.

We are currently $61,000 away from reaching our goal! Continue to check our ShareLife thermometer in the Parish Narthex to see our progress towards our $288,000.00 goal and consider giving through the parish using a ShareLife envelope, online via our parish website, or at sharelife.org/donate. Calling all Moms!

We are excited to be launching St. Ignatius of Loyola Mother’s Group! Join us on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 in the Parish Hall from 11:30AM to 1:00PM for a kick-off event to celebrate this vibrant ministry focused on supporting moms in their vocation of family life. Whether you are newly returning to the faith or are a cradle Catholic looking for fellowship, there is a place here for you. See you there!

Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul continues to help over 110 families coping with food insecurities within our parish boundaries. It is only through your generous financial assistance that we can continue to do this.

Save the Date: Life Chain –

Sunday October 4, 2026

On Respect Life Sunday, the annual national Life Chain will also be taking place, in front of parishes and at key intersections uniting with 300 sites across Canada to pray for our pre-born children, elderly and infirm. Volunteers will be present to distribute signs with messages of compassion, truth, and hope. Join us in this holy act of solidarity, standing side by side in prayer for mothers, fathers, families, and especially for the lives of the unborn. We will stand vigil along Burnhamthorpe Rd.
