A Thanksgiving Message

Thanksgiving weekend gives us a wonderful opportunity to stop for a moment and remember just how much we have to be grateful for.

We give thanks for our families and friends, for the gift of life and health, for the homes we share and the food on our tables. We give thanks especially for our faith, for the presence of Christ in our lives and for this parish family where we gather week after week to pray, to celebrate and to support one another.

Fr. Tobias, our parish staff and I are particularly grateful for all those who make St. Ignatius Loyola such a vibrant parish. So much happens here because of the generosity of our volunteers, ministry leaders, parish groups and all those who quietly give their time and talents, often without anyone noticing. We are blessed by our talented musicians and choirs who add so much beauty to our celebrations and by those who decorate our church so wonderfully throughout the changing times and seasons of the year. There are countless hands and hearts behind everything that happens in our parish. Thank you. Our parish is stronger and more beautiful because of you.

And to our university and college students who are home for Thanksgiving weekend: welcome home! We’re delighted to have you back. Wherever your studies may take you, please remember that St. Ignatius Loyola is still your parish. Whenever you’re home, make this your home too.

Above all, Thanksgiving reminds us that every good gift ultimately comes from God. May these days give us time not simply to enjoy our blessings, but to recognize the One from whom they come.

On behalf of Fr. Tobias and all our parish staff, I wish you and your families a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

PARISH NEWS/EVENTS

Collection for the Evangelization of the Nations

On the weekend of October 17/18, we invite you to support World Mission Sunday, a worldwide collection for the missionary Church. This is an opportunity for us to assist Catholic communities around the world that lack the basic resources needed to know, love, and praise God.

Offerings from Catholics around the world are combined and distributed to missions and dioceses in need. Envelopes are available in the church foyers and may be placed in the collection basket during the offertory or dropped off at the Parish Office. We thank you for your generosity and for helping support the Church’s mission around the world.

Thank You!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Pet Blessing and Life Chain this past weekend. Your presence, prayers, and joyful participation helped make both events special. We are grateful for the wonderful support of our parish community. May we continue to pray for the unborn, for mothers and families, and for a culture that cherishes and protects every human life.

Parish Mass Attendance Count

On the weekends of October 17/18 & October 24/25, the Archdiocese of Toronto has asked parishes to record attendance at each Sunday Mass. During the Psalm, you may notice our Hospitality volunteers counting those present at Mass. This information will be submitted to the Archdiocese, as requested. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Securities as a Charitable Gift Option

One of the most financially sound ways to support the Archdiocese of Toronto is with the gift of securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds). When you donate stocks, mutual funds and other securities to a registered charity, you pay no capital gains tax and receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift. It means a great tax break for you and support of your Parish and various archdiocesan charities such as ShareLife, St. Augustine’s Seminary, The Shepherds’ Trust, and many others. For further information, contact the development office at development@archtoronto.org.
