From the Pastor's Desk
I’ll be away from the parish from Monday to Friday this coming week. Earlier this month, I was elected by my brother priests to serve on the Archdiocese of Toronto’s Council of Priests. As a result, Cardinal Leo has asked me to represent the Archdiocese at the annual gathering of the Canadian Federation of Presbyteral Councils, being held this year in Halifax.
The gathering brings together priests from across Canada for several days of prayer, discussion and conversation about the life and ministry of priests and the Church in our country. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent our Archdiocese and our parish.
This also begins a rather busy stretch for your priests. October is one of those months when we seem to be pulled in all sorts of directions. Our annual Priests’ Seminar takes place over two weeks and is something of a yearly “tune-up” for us. I’ll be attending from October 19–22 and Fr. Tobias will attend from October 26–29. Then, beginning October 27, I’ll be leading a pilgrimage with some of our parishioners to Italy, returning November 6.
So, between Halifax, the Priests’ Seminar and the pilgrimage, there will be a fair bit of coming and going over the next several weeks. Fr. Tobias and I appreciate your patience as we do our best to keep everything running smoothly here at St. Ignatius.
In the meantime, please go easy on your priests. Until November, if we could have an absolute minimum of sickness, dying and, while we’re at it, sinning, Fr. Tobias and I would be most grateful!

ShareLife
I have some wonderful news about our ShareLife campaign.
Thanks to your generosity, St. Ignatius Loyola has contributed $238,112 toward our parish goal of $288,000. That leaves us $49,888 to go before the end of the year.
And now, one of our parishioners has very generously offered to help us get there.
Every new donation made toward our parish ShareLife campaign will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $25,000.
That means a gift of $50 becomes $100. A gift of $250 becomes $500. And if, together, we contribute $25,000, this generous parishioner will contribute another $25,000, essentially bringing us to our goal.
ShareLife does tremendous good throughout our Archdiocese, caring for people at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. It supports families in crisis, people with disabilities, newcomers to Canada and many others who need help. ShareLife also supports the formation of our future priests, helping prepare the men who will one day serve in our parishes.
St. Ignatius has always responded generously to ShareLife, and this is a wonderful opportunity to make that generosity go twice as far.
So, if you haven’t yet made your ShareLife contribution this year, or if you’re able to make an additional gift, now is the time. Every dollar you give will become two.
We have until December 31, but with this extraordinary matching gift, I think we can get there well before then.

Collection for the Needs of the Church in Canada: Supporting Bishops in Their Pastoral Mission
This weekend (September 26/27) we invite you to support the Needs of the Church in Canada. This annual initiative is an important opportunity for the faithful to actively support and assist the Bishops in their ministry of accompanying, teaching, guiding, sanctifying, and caring for the Church in Canada. Envelopes for the Needs of the Church in Canada will be available in the foyers. We thank you in advance for your generosity and continued commitment.

Eucharistic Adoration: Friday October 2, Hosted by UTM Chaplaincy
The University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Chaplaincy warmly invites all parishioners to join in a special evening of prayer and reflection at the Parish:
- 6:15 PM – Reflection
- 7:00 PM – Holy Hour
Please note that the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available during the evening for UTM students. Parishioners who wish to receive Confession are invited to attend during our regular times (Saturdays from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM) or contact the Parish office to schedule an appointment.
Blessing of Pets, Saturday October 3
Bring your furry, feathered or scaled friends for a short outdoor service & blessing in the back parking lot as we celebrate the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. All creatures great & small are welcome. Please ensure pets are leashed or in carriers. If a pet is anxious or can’t travel, bring a photo or favourite toy for a blessing. We will also include a brief remembrance for beloved pets who have died. Come, give thanks for God’s creation & the joy our pets bring to our lives!
Healing & Reconciliation Collection
Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of Toronto are invited to participate in the collection being held the weekend of October 3/4, 2026 to support the Indigenous Healing & Reconciliation Fund. The collection is part of a national grassroots effort to assist healing and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples of This Land.

Save the Date: Life Chain – Sunday October 4, 2026
On Respect Life Sunday, the annual national Life Chain will also be taking place, in front of parishes and at key intersections uniting with 300 sites across Canada to pray for our pre-born children, elderly and infirm. Volunteers will be present to distribute signs with messages of compassion, truth, and hope. Join us in this holy act of solidarity, standing side by side in prayer for mothers, fathers, families, and especially for the lives of the unborn. We will stand vigil along Burnhamthorpe Rd. Salvation Army Thanksgiving Food Drive!
We are having our annual Drive-Thru Thanksgiving Food Drive in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank at Glen Erin/Collegeway in the front parking lot on Thanksgiving weekend, October 10/11 before and after all the Masses.
The Knights of Columbus will take the donations directly from your trunk and deliver them to the foodbank. The items that are most needed include rice ,toiletries, Shampoo ,conditioner, soap ,tuna, and pasta. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Society of St. Vincent de Paul: Bundle Up Weekend
Please let those gently used items you can do without benefit those of our neighbours in need. Bundle Up Weekend will take place the weekend of October 24th and 25th, before and after all Masses.
The container will be in the front parking lot and SSVP volunteers will be happy to assist you with your donation. Please ensure all bags are tied securely.
Accepted items include: all clothing (any condition), all footwear (any condition), bedding (any condition), drapery/towels and new toys only.
Items not accepted include: baby items (cribs, car seats, strollers), regular or baby furniture, books, dishes, mattresses, construction materials, appliances or video tapes.

Come & See – Discernment Weekend Retreat – November 6-8, 2026 at Augustine’s Seminary
The Office of Vocations will be hosting a Come & See Weekend Discernment Retreat for men 18 years and older, at St. Augustine’s Seminary on Friday, November 6 (6:30 p.m.) until Sunday, November 8 (2 p.m.). This Retreat offers a way for men to discern a possible call to priesthood at our seminary. We encourage you to promote this event in your parishes, during your announcements as well as including this event in your respective parish bulletins, it would be greatly appreciated.
