2023 Tax Receipts/Thank You for Your Continue Support

We thank everyone for their support of the parish in 2023.  Once again, this year your tax receipts (for those who have contributed over $50 directly to the parish or via PAG) will be mailed to you directly from the Archdiocese of Toronto.   The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will also mail a separate tax receipt for your donation to them in 2023 in the coming days. Thanks for your continued support in this new year via envelope donations, Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG forms available on our website or in the church foyers) or through the Donate Now button on our website.  Our parish financial report for 2023 will be delivered later this month and will also be included in our parish bulletin.

Celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life

Each year, the Church commemorates World Day for Consecrated Life by pausing and thanking the Lord for the wonderful vocation to Consecrated life, by fostering a greater awareness of and deeper appreciation for all those women and men who are called by Jesus Christ to follow him by living a life of particular consecration to God, and by celebrating the good work that the Lord continues to accomplish through the communities and its vowed members.

The annual World Day for Consecrated Life takes place this year on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2, with many diocesan or parish-based celebrations taking place on the weekend of February 3/4. The Archdiocese of Toronto will have a special gathering and celebration for all those who have made the commitment to the vocation of Consecrated life.  You may watch the livestreaming of the Mass here: stmichaelscathedral.com/live.

World Day of the Sick and the Mass for the Anointing of the Sick

The ministry of Jesus to the sick is central to the life of the Church. February 11 (Memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes) highlights the healing ministry of the Church and reminds us that service to the sick and suffering cannot be neglected. It recognizes the great efforts of doctors, nurses, health care institutions and pastoral care givers to restore health to those afflicted with illness and disease.

I take this opportunity to thank the many people involved in our Pastoral Care Team who minister to the sick by offering holy communion to them at home, at Sunrise and Parkland on the Glen.

On Saturday, February 10 at 9:00 a.m., we will celebrate a special Mass for the Anointing of the Sick.   Please extend an invitation to those Roman Catholics in your families whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age, as we would be happy to anoint them during the mass.

Finally, a reminder that if you have a loved one who is homebound, or seriously ill please call the parish office to arrange for one of our priests to come for an initial visit and possible Anointing of the Sick.  We would then be happy to offer them the option of receiving communion at home through our Pastoral Care Team. Please call or visit the parish office with the info and we will follow up with you.
