Parish Closed for Public Masses, Open for Private Prayer & Weekend Communion Services Only

We received the following update from Cardinal Collins last Friday:
Late this afternoon, the provincial government announced further restrictions in an attempt to minimize the transmission of Covid-19, given the alarming increase in new cases over the past 10 days. The new measures have a direct impact on places of worship as part of an extended stay-at-home order, which will be in place until at least May 20, 2021.

As you are likely aware, the number of new cases, especially in Toronto, Peel and York, have increased dramatically. While I firmly believe we offer an essential “service” and have demonstrated our ability to welcome the faithful safely given our stringent WorshipSafe measures, we must also recognize the serious nature of the current situation.

Cardinal Collins has also released a video encouraging the faithful who are eligible to receive a vaccination to do so as soon as possible -it can be viewed here:

To learn more about the ethics of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, you can read the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops' statement here: http://bit.ly/CatholicsAndTheVaccine

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

ShareLife 2021: Living the Gospel by sharing our blessings
Thanks to generous donors like you, ShareLife agencies helped 150,000 people locally last year. Your gift:
• enabled 21,000 people to receive affordable mental health care through family service agencies
• ensured nearly 7,000 seniors received dignified care
• facilitated the arrival of 528 refugees through the Office of Refugees of the Archdiocese of Toronto
• helped nearly 1,900 young pregnant/parenting women and their babies receive loving support
• invested in our Church’s future by supporting 54 seminarians at St. Augustine’s Seminary and Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary in the current academic year.

We thank Arthur Peters, Executive Director, who spoke at all masses this past weekend, April 17/18. Arthur expressed his gratitude for the generosity that our parish has shown towards our sisters and brothers in need through the parish ShareLife campaign. You can view Arthur’s address at
https://youtu.be/sb5AbcZNgp8 .

The goal for the 2021 ShareLife Campaign is $13.8 million and our parish goal for this year is $234,600. We have raised $44,584 to date.
“Our goal can be met, but only with your help. I invite you to join today's generation of heroes by making a sacrificial gift to ShareLife. As you contemplate the blessings God has entrusted to you, please
join me in giving to ShareLife to the best of your ability.” – Cardinal Thomas Collins

This year we are encouraging you to give at sharelife.org, where you can make a one-time or monthly gift by credit card and designate it to our parish’s campaign. Monthly giving is a convenient way to spread your ShareLife contribution over the course of a year.
Using a green ShareLife envelope, found at the doors of the church or available from the parish office, simply fill out the form on the envelope and include a void cheque. Submit it to the parish office or drop it in the offertory basket at any time. Contact ShareLife at slife@archtoronto.org or  416-934-3411 if you have any questions about pre-authorized giving.

First Holy Communion Celebrations Delayed
Due to the stay-at-home order in place for the next four weeks, we have postponed our First Communion Celebrations planned for late April and early May. Our new tentative dates (which will be confirmed in early May) are Sunday May 30 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Sunday June 6 at 2:00 p.m.
and 4:00 p.m., with rehearsals on either Tuesday May 25 at 7:00 p.m. or Wednesday May 26 at 7:00 p.m. An e-mail has been sent to all registered families advising them of this unfortunate delay.
Please continue to pray for our First Communion candidates and their families!

Your Financial Support is Appreciated

Thank you once again for your generosity and support of our parish community during this stay-at-home order by placing your envelope in the offertory basket before mass or mailing in your donations, or donating via Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG forms available through parish website) or by credit card, or single or monthly donations through the “Donate now” button at www.archtoronto.org

Please join us at the end of each mass in praying the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;

And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world

seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
