Fr. MAURICIO SANJINES- NEW APPOINTMENT

Our Associate Pastor Fr. Mauricio Sanjines has been appointed by Cardinal Collins as Associate Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Mississauga effective  June 30, 2021.   I wish to thank Fr. Mauricio for his two years of service here at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, and wish him well in his new assignment!   We hope to be able to gather in person to thank Fr. Mauricio on the weekend of June 5/6 before he heads off for vacation for the last three weeks of June.

Our new associate pastor will be Fr. John Sutka, currently associate pastor at St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica, who also lived with us at the rectory from March to August 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic.  We look forward to welcoming Fr. John back to St. Ignatius Loyola Parish!

INDIA COVID-19 RELIEF

The Archdiocese of Toronto will send donations through Development and Peace to Caritas Internationalis, an international confederation of Catholic humanitarian organizations that is already in India helping those who are suffering during this COVID-19 outbreak. To learn more about Caritas’ work in India, please watch this video: http://bit.ly/CaritasIndiaRelief

Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASSES DELAYED UNTIL LATE JUNE/ CONFIRMATION MASSES POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2021

Due to the extension of the Province wide stay-at-home order until at least Wednesday June 2, we have delayed the celebration of First Holy Communion Masses to the end of June (Sunday June 20 and Sunday June 27), with the provision of moving these celebrations to the fall if necessary.

Our Confirmation preparation program will continue with a final virtual preparation session via Zoom on either Monday May 30 or Tuesday June 1.

We will, however, need to move the celebration of Confirmation Masses to the fall of 2021.   All registered families in both our First Communion and Confirmation programmes have received an update email with details over the last few days.

Let us continue to pray for our candidates for First Communion and Confirmation in these challenging times.

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

SHARELIFE 2021: Living the Gospel by putting faith into action!

“ShareLife is the way the rubber hits the road. This is how we validate the legitimacy and integrity of our Christian life: not by the words we speak, but by the love we share, in practical ways. That’s what we do with ShareLife.”

– Cardinal Thomas Collins

We are fortunate in the Catholic community to have ShareLife-funded agencies that reach out to the marginalized in our communities, especially during the pandemic. These agencies respect the values we hold dear as a Catholic community.  As a pastor, it is reassuring to know I can refer those who come to me for guidance with difficult family issues to a Catholic Family Service agency that will be attentive to our beliefs and values as they help them.

These services are made possible through our generosity toward ShareLife. When you support these agencies, you are helping them to grow in response to the increased demand for service they face. This results in a positive impact on the lives of those who turn to them for help.

As Catholics, we are called to care for one another. One of the ways we do this is through our support of ShareLife. We express this love and care by supporting the work of ShareLife-funded agencies. Through their programs and services, we are able to fulfill this commandment.

Thank you very much for supporting our parish’s ShareLife campaign. Thus far we have raised $124,157 toward our goal of $234,600.  Thank you to those who have contributed to our annual appeal. If you have not yet done so, you are invited to reflect on your ability to help those in need and make a sacrificial gift to help those who turn to our agencies for help.

Monthly Pre-Authorized Giving is a convenient way to spread your ShareLife contribution throughout the year. You can learn more about PAG at sharelife.org.

However you give, whatever you give, thank you for supporting ShareLife!

YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED

Thank you once again for your generosity and support of our parish community during this stay-at-home order by placing your envelope in the offertory basket before mass or mailing in your donations, or donating via Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG forms available through parish website) or by credit card, or single or monthly donations through the “Donate now” button at www.archtoronto.org

Please join us at the end of each mass in praying the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

 May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;

And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God,

thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world

seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
