FROM THE DESK OF FR. TIM

FR. MAURICIO SANJINES- THANK YOU!

Our Associate Pastor Fr. Mauricio Sanjines has been appointed by Cardinal Collins as Associate Pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish, Mississauga effective June 30, 2021.  Fr. Mauricio will be leaving us on Monday June 7 for some well-deserved vacation until the end of the month, and so we will thank him at the Sunday June 6 Livestream mass for his two years of service here at St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, and wish him well in his new assignment!

PARISH REMAINS CLOSED FOR PUBLIC MASSES, OPEN FOR PRIVATE PRAYER AND FOR WEEKEND COMMUNION SERVICES ONLY

The provincial government’s “Roadmap to Reopen” Plan restricts places of worship to a 10-person maximum until Step 2 (expected in early July), with the exception of outdoor services that are permitted in Step 1 (expected mid June).

Cardinal Collins has written to the priests and faithful of the Archdiocese that “he has made very clear with the Premier’s office our dissatisfaction regarding the hard cap of 10 people for worship in light of the fact that non-essential retailers will be permitted to open at 15% capacity as of Step 1 (expected mid-June) and 25% capacity for Step 2 (expected in early July).  If, by early June there are no changes relating to places of worship in the “Roadmap to Reopen”, we will, once again, ask parishioners to connect with their MPP as part of a new e-mail campaign similar to “A Place to Worship” email campaign launched in March 2021. Additional details regarding the logistics as well as appropriate communication will be shared with you shortly.”

Therefor until at least Step 1(approximately June 14, 2021) there will be NO PUBLIC MASSES celebrated in the church.  The Church will, however, remain open for private prayer weekdays 9:30 am to Noon, and for Confessions each Saturday 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.  We are limited to a maximum of 10 people in the church at any given time (including priest and/or staff member).

HOLY COMMUNION SERVICES OFFERED EACH SATURDAY 4:45- 6:30 P.M. AND SUNDAY 10 A.M. TO 12:45 P.M.

We are happy to offer Holy Communion Services each weekend until the church is open once again. Each service takes approximately 10 minutes and will offered for only 8 parishioners (plus presider and usher for a maximum of 10 people allowed in the church).  Please note that those in attendance must be willing to stand, appropriately distanced in the front of the sanctuary and will be asked to leave immediately following the final blessing.

These communion services must be reserved via Eventbrite (see link and instructions below), or by leaving a telephone message with the parish office (905) 820-1444 for either the Saturday 4:45 p.m. or Sunday 12:45 p.m. timeslots.

For the weekends of June 5/6 and June 12/13…Eventbrite opens Tuesday June 1st  at 9 a.m. and closes each Friday at Noon

Please note that each communion service is limited to 8 people. Households may reserve 4 FREE tickets only.

For those who cannot physically attend Mass, there are a number of virtual options available, including:

At communion time we invite you to join in the following prayer:

An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

INDIA COVID-19 RELIEF

India is reeling from a devastating COVID-19 outbreak. The medical system, funeral services and other social supports are unable to meet the country’s needs at this time.  In response to numerous inquiries from parishioners and clergy, we are providing information for those who may wish to contribute to relief efforts to assist the people of India.

The Archdiocese of Toronto will send donations through Development and Peace to Caritas Internationalis, an international confederation of Catholic humanitarian organizations that is already in India helping those who are suffering during this COVID-19 outbreak. To learn more about Caritas’ work in India, please watch this video: http://bit.ly/CaritasIndiaRelief

Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:

  • Online through the Archdiocese of Toronto website: www.archtoronto.org
  • By phone through the Development Office – 416-934-3411
  • Through the parish, making cheques payable to:

Please continue to pray for the people of India and all those who are suffering from COVID-19 worldwide.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASSES DELAYED UNTIL LATE JUNE/ CONFIRMATION MASSES POSTPONED UNTIL FALL 2021

Due to the delay of the province-wide reopening plan until at least Monday June 14, we have delayed the celebration of First Holy Communion Masses to the end of June (Sunday June 20 and Sunday June 27), with the provision of moving these celebrations to the fall if necessary.   We will be in touch with our First Communion families by Monday June 7 with any further updates.

We have already postponed the celebration of Confirmation Masses to the fall of 2021.   All registered Confirmation families received this news in a mid-May update email, and we will be in touch with them again in early September with a further update.

SHARELIFE 2021: Living the Gospel by providing for those in need

“Without you, ShareLife could not fulfill its mission to live the Gospel by providing for those in need. Together we are making a real difference! My prayer is that we may continue to respond to God's love by going forth from ourselves to seek the good of others.” — Cardinal Thomas Collins

Rose of Sharon is an agency you support through ShareLife. It provides support and educational services to almost 300 young mothers each year. Deanne Kukulewich is the Executive Director at Rose of Sharon. She says, “COVID-19 has forced many young single mothers into seclusion, not for themselves, but to protect their babies, or unborn infants. Through generous donors like you who support ShareLife, young mothers can receive weekly support. Your donations help the Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers to provide counselling services to help young women and their families cope through these uncertain times.”

When you give to ShareLife, you support more than 40 agencies doing vital work that is truly living the Gospel message.

Thank you very much for supporting our parish’s ShareLife campaign. Thus far we have raised $140,000 toward our goal of $234,600.  Thank you to those who have contributed to our annual appeal. If you have not yet done so, you are invited to reflect on your ability to help those in need and make a sacrificial gift to help those who turn to our agencies for help.

Monthly Pre-Authorized Giving is a convenient way to spread your ShareLife contribution throughout the year. You can learn more about PAG at sharelife.org.

However you give, whatever you give, thank you for supporting ShareLife!

YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED

Thank you once again for your generosity and support of our parish community during this stay-at-home order by placing your envelope in the offertory basket before mass or mailing in your donations, or donating via Pre-Authorized Giving (PAG forms available through parish website) or by credit card, or single or monthly donations through the “Donate now” button at www.archtoronto.org

Please join us at the end of each mass in praying the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel:

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.

Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

 May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;

And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God,

thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world

seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
